Today is a cool show from PowerScripting Podcast, it’s episode 246, Gary Siepser & Ian Philpot from Microsoft on Scripting the Kinect.

The Kinect is an amazing piece of technology and if you connect it to your PC you can program it using the Kinect SDK. In this show Gary and Ian talks about the way they’re using Powershell instead of .NET. Their project PowerKinect sounds really cool.

I’ve been thinking about what to do with the Kinect. Using gesture controls is awesome but personally I don’t really have a real life application for it. One thing the guys talk about though is the microphones. The Kinect have four mikes spaced one inch apart and it’s possible to triangulate the sound and find out from where the sound comes from. That is comparing the sound different, one inch apart. That difference is not very big when it comes to the speed of sound. Think about that for a second. Is that some awesome hardware or not?
